Bethmann Bank and Universal-Investment to expand private equity offering

Bethmann Bank is expanding its offering for investors in the alternative investment space. In collaboration with fund services platform Universal-Investment, the private bank has launched a second sub-fund in an existing private equity fund of funds umbrella in Luxembourg. The new SICAV-RAIF S.A. has been signed by investors for approximately EUR 100 million since mid-September 2020 with initial capital calls already having been issued. Moreover, Bethmann Bank and Universal-Invesment plan to launch further sub-funds under the existing structure in the coming years.

“As yields in the traditional investment segments wane, we have seen demand from investors for alternative investments continue to rise. RAIF structures such as for this fund offer a flexible, timely and efficient way to enter into Private Equity,” said Dr. Sofia Harrschar, Head of Alternative Investments at Universal-Investment.

The fund provides a nominee structure and the shares of the second sub-fund were available via Bethmann Bank in Germany. Bethmann Bank brings in its private equity expertise as the fund’s investment advisor, with Universal-Investment- being the Alternative Investment Fund Manager and administrator. The structure enables Bethmann Bank to offer the fund and its several sub-funds to professional and semi-professional investors among their private banking client base. However, investments from institutional clients are also possible.
